WYOMING COUNTY/The estimated loss in the three house fires on Silver Lake is $750,000

Two homes on Avenue D on Silver Lake in the Town Of Castile are considered a total loss, and a third home was extensively damaged after fire ravaged through the three residences on July 28, 2020.

13 fire companies were called to 3997 Avenue D for a reported house fire at 12:08p.m., the home is owned by Richard Bausch.

When fire crews arrived on scene, the blaze then spread to a second home at 6816C Avenue D, owned by Lynn & Thomas Houseknecht and then to a third home at 6816 Avenue D, owned by Scott Walton.

The cause of the fire in the first home, was a faulty air conditioner.

Due to the close proximity of the homes to each other, the fire spread quickly to neighboring properties.

Fire crews from Silver Springs, Castile, Bliss, Gainesville, Perry Center, Perry, Warsaw, Wyoming, Mount Morris, Nunda, Pavilion, Fillmore and Wiscoy Rossberg were on scene for 9 hours.

Assisting on scene, Wyoming County Emergency Management, Wyoming County Sheriff’s, Wyoming County Emergency Response Team, Wyoming County Building and Codes, Town of Castile Highway, Ed Hulme Incorporated, Pioneer Gas, Ferrell Gas and NYSEG.
