Saltan Ahmed, 19, of Cheektowaga, was arrested following a traffic stop on East Buffalo street in the Village of Warsaw on August 5, 2020.
Saltan was initially stopped for speeding in a 30 mile per hour zone. After an investigation, it is believed that Saltan was under the influence of an unknown substance and was unable to safely operate a motor vehicle.
Saltan submitted to a DRE evaluation at the Warsaw Police Department conducted by a NYS Certified Drug Recognition Expert. It was the DRE’s expert opinion that Saltan was under the influence of cannabis and was unable to safely operate a motor vehicle.
Saltan is charged with speed in zone and driving while ability impaired by drugs. He was released on an appearance ticket and is to appear in the Village of Warsaw Court on August 24, 2020 for initial arraignment.
On August 6, 2020 a deputy from the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office, who was assigned to an aggressive driving detail, initiated a traffic stop on Route 20A in the Town of Orangeville for a vehicle traveling over the posted speed limit.
During the investigation, the driver of the motor vehicle, Dennis S. Ratemo, 44, of Bronx, NY, was allegedly operating the vehicle in an intoxicated state. Field sobriety tests were conducted and he was subsequently arrested for driving while intoxicated.
Ratemo is also charged with speeding, unlicensed operator; failure to submit to a chemical test, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree and felony driving while intoxicated due to a previous DWI conviction within the previous 10 years.
Ratemo was arraigned in the Town of Warsaw Court where he was released on an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Orangeville Court on August 26, 2020 for further proceedings.
On August 21, 2020, The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office along with the New York State Police were requested to a residence on South Main Street in the Village of Gainesville for a report of a domestic dispute.
At the completion of the investigation, Misty J. Woodard, 43, of Gainesville, was arrested and charged with criminal mischief 4th degree after allegedly causing damage to a glass window at a residence.
Woodard was processed at the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office and released on an appearance ticket. Woodard is to appear in the Town of Gainesville Court in September for initial arraignment.
On August 23, 2020 at approximately 4:10a.m., a deputy from the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Bank Road in the Town of Middlebury after a violation of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law.
The operator of the vehicle identified himself as Elijah Richardson, 23, of Batavia advised deputies that he did not have a valid NYS driver’s license. A DMV check showed that Richardson possessed a non-driver ID only, which currently had eight active suspensions.
Richardson was subsequently arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation 2nd Degree, unlicensed operator, and failure to keep right.
He was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to return to the Town of Middlebury Court at a later date.
Following a traffic stop on August 22, 2020 on Rt. 63 in the Town of Covington for speeding, the operator of the vehicle, Alaura M. Bunk, 21, of Alden, NY, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th degree.
Bunk was found to be in possession of concentrated cannabis, cocaine, LSD, marijuana, and drug smoking paraphernalia. Bunk was processed and released with an appearance ticket and is to appear in Covington Town Court on a later date to answer the charge.
Vincent W. Hilton, 62, of Sheldon, was arrested following a traffic stop on Royce Road in the Town of Orangeville on August 22, 2020. Hilton was stopped after he was observed by law enforcement driving a vehicle with a suspended registration for insurance not in effect.
Hilton was found to be driving alone with only a learner’s permit, and he was also found to be operating without valid insurance on the vehicle. During a roadside investigation, Hilton was observed to be displaying indicators of impairment. Hilton performed poorly on roadside field sobriety testing and was taken into custody.
Hilton was evaluated by a Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office Drug Recognition Expert, and he was determined to be impaired by drugs and unable to operate a vehicle safely.
Hilton is charged with DWAI/drugs, operating on a suspended registration, operating without insurance, and unlicensed operation. Hilton was issued an appearance ticket, released to a third party, and is scheduled to answer the charges in the Town of Orangeville Court in September.
Deputies responded to Safford Road in the Town of Pike for a report of a domestic incident on August 16, 2020.
Deputies arrived on location and following an investigation, Craig Lafferty, 37, of Pike, was charged with harassment 2nd, criminal contempt 1st and aggravated family offense after a domestic incident
Lafferty was arraigned in Pike Court and released with a stay away order of protection issued. Lafferty is to return to court in September.
