WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Ellicottville man jailed without bail after traffic stop in Pike

On August 30, 2020 at approximately 12:03a.m., a deputy from the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Route 19 in the Town of Pike after observing a violation of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.

While speaking with the operator of the vehicle, Michael Cadieux, 37, of Ellicottville, NY, the Deputy began to observe signs consistent with alcohol impairment.

Cadieux did submit to field sobriety testing and allegedly performed poorly, at which point he was arrested for DWI. He was transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office for further processing, where he refused to submit to a chemical test.

Cadieux was found to have a revoked New York State non-driver ID, due to multiple prior DWI related arrests, and was subsequently charged with DWI as a class D-felony due to two prior convictions within the past ten years, aggravated unlicensed operation 1st, a felony, unlicensed operator, operating out of interlock restriction and failure to keep right.

He was arraigned in the Town of Warsaw Court and remanded to the Wyoming County Jail without bail, due to prior convictions and the present felony charges. Cadieux is scheduled to re-appear in Wyoming County Court at a later date.

On August 30, 2020 at approximately 7:50p.m., a deputy from the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Route 39 in the Town of Castile for a violation of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.

The operator of the vehicle was identified as George Brown, 37, and a female passenger, identified as Sybil Davis, 31, both of Cuba, NY. While speaking with the deputy, Brown advised that he was currently operating on an expired and suspended New York State Driver’s License.

The deputy was able to confirm that Brown’s license was suspended and he was subsequently arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd and unlicensed operator.

During the traffic stop, Davis was also found to allegedly be in possession of a quantity of suspected heroin, and was subsequently arrested for criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th.

Both subjects were released on appearance tickets and are scheduled to return to the Town of Castile Court at a later date for further proceedings.

A deputy from the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office observed a female operating a vehicle in the Crosby’s parking lot in the Village of Perry on August 30, 2020. The female approached the deputy and the deputy observed signs of possible drug impairment. After performing a DWI investigation and determining the female operator, Tiffany Boyd, 36, of Canandaigua, NY, was allegedly impaired by drugs and placed under arrest.

A NYS certified Drug Recognition Expert from the Warsaw Police who determined Boyd to be impaired by multiple drug categories and unable to operate a motor vehicle safety.

Boyd is charged with aggravated unlicensed operation 1st, aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd, unlicensed operator, driving while ability impaired by a drug, driving while ability impaired by a combination of drugs, aggravated DWI-child in the vehicle and criminal use of drug paraphernalia 2nd.

Boyd is to appear at the Village of Perry court in September to answer for the charges.

On August 21, 2020, a deputy with the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office was patrolling on Route 19A, in the Town of Gainesville, when a violation of the vehicle and traffic law was observed. Following a vehicle and traffic enforcement stop on the vehicle, the driver was identified as Roger L. Ballard Jr., 26, of Castile.

During the roadside investigation, Ballard was found to be in possession of marijuana and a marijuana bowl, which was still warm from being used when Ballard handed it to the deputy.

Ballard was then asked to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which he allegedly performed poorly, and was placed under arrest for DWAI Drugs.

Following a drug influence evaluation by a NYS Certified Drug Recognition Expert, Ballard was found to be under the influence of alcohol and several other drugs and not able to operate a motor vehicle safely.

Ballard was ultimately charged with DWAI/ drugs, DWAI/ drugs combo, unlawful possession of marijuana 2nd degree and uninspected motor vehicle.

Ballard was released with appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Gainesville Court at a later date.

Following a traffic stop by the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office on Route 354 in the Town of Bennington on September 1, 2020, the driver of the vehicle, Ian C. Logan, 23 of Alden, NY, was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd degree.

Logan was released with an appearance ticket and is to appear in Bennington Town Court on September 14, 2020 to answer to the charge.
