STATE POLICE/Medina man arrested for DWI with a B.A.C. nearly three times the legal limit following a motor vehicle accident on the thruway

On September 11, 2020, at approximately 6:40 p.m., State Police responded to a report of a two-car motor vehicle accident on I-90, in the town of Amherst.  It was reported that a Dodge Caravan was struck from behind by a Chevrolet Silverado.  The driver of the Chevy, Gregory D. Smith, 33, of Medina, NY, was found to allegedly be intoxicated. 

Smith was transported and processed at SP Buffalo where his blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.22%. He was subsequently charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, an unclassified misdemeanor.

Smith was turned over to a sober third party and released on appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Amherst Court on September 30, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. 

No one was injured as a result of the accident.
