GENESEE ORLEANS/Health Dept./COVID-19 Update/Student tests positive at BOCES Campus in Batavia

New Cases – As of 2:00 p.m. October 16, 2020

o Genesee County received 0 new positive cases of COVID-19 for a total of 345 positive cases

§ Two of the previous positive individuals have recovered and have been released from mandatory isolation.

§ 25 new individuals are on precautionary quarantine due to travel from restricted states.

o The Health Departments have been notified of a positive COVID-19 test from a Batavia BOCES campus student. The individual has been placed under mandatory isolation where they will remain until they are fully recovered. Contact tracing is in process. Individuals identified by the health department as being close contacts have been and/or will be contacted and placed under mandatory quarantine. Individuals identified by the health department as being close contacts will be expected to follow the New York State Department of Health quarantine guidelines.

o Orleans County received 1 new positive case of COVID-19 for a total of 344 positive cases

§ The new positive case resides in Shelby.

§ The individual is in in the 0-19 age range.

§ The individual was on mandatory quarantine prior to testing positive.

§ Two of the previous positive individuals have recovered and have been released from mandatory isolation

§ 3 new individuals are on precautionary quarantine due to travel from restricted states.
