GENESEE COUNTY/Bergen woman dies in two vehicle accident

The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal two vehicle accident that occurred on Rt. 19 near Creamery road in the Town of Bergen on Thursday afternoon.

According to investigators, a 2014 Toyota RAV4, operated by Caroline F. Bianchi, 74, of Bergen, was southbound on Rt. 19 and for some unknown reason, traveled over the center of the roadway into the northbound lane, striking a 2007 Chrysler Town and Country van.

Bianchi was pronounced dead at the scene by Genesee County Coroner Tom Douglas.

The driver of the van, Gary C. Beehler, 82, of Hamlin, NY, suffered serious physical injuries and was transported by Mercy Flight to Strong Hospital.

The investigation is ongoing as to the reason why Bianchi failed to maintain her lane of travel.

The accident is being investigated by Deputy Andrew Mullen. Assisting at the scene was Deputy Jordan Alejandro, Investigator Chad Minuto, the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office Crash Management Team members, Sgt. Jason Saile and Deputy Kyle Krzemien, members of the Town of Bergen Fire Department, Mercy EMS and the NYS Police.
