GENESEE ORLEANS/Health Dept./COVID-19 Update/18 new positive cases reported/12 hospitalized/Travel quarantine lifted for domestic travel

o Data Update –4/1/21

Please note today is the first day of no travel quarantine which is noted in the brief.  It is important for residents to understand they are still responsible for completing the NYS Traveler Health Form, continue with masking, proper hand washing/sanitizing and monitoring their health for 14 days.  If they start to experience any COVID-related symptoms they are to immediately self-isolate and should contact their primary care provider.

o Genesee County reporting 10 new positive cases of COVID-19 for a total of 4661 positive cases.

§ The new positive cases reside in the:

· West Region (Alabama, Darien, Pembroke)

· Central Region (Alexander, Batavia, Bethany, Elba, Oakfield)

· East Region (Bergen, Byron, LeRoy, Pavilion, Stafford)

§ The individuals are in their 0-19’s, 20’s, 30’s, 40’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s.

§ 21 of the previous positive individuals have recovered and have been removed from the isolation list.

§ 7 of the current positive individuals are hospitalized.

o Orleans County reporting 8 new positive cases of COVID-19 for a total of 2573 positive cases.

§ The positive cases reside in the:

· West Region (Yates, Ridgeway, Shelby)

· Central Region (Carlton, Gaines, Albion, Barre)

· East Region (Kendall, Murray, Clarendon)

§ The individuals are in their, 0-19’s, 20’s, 30’s, 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s.

§ 1 of the new positive individuals was on mandatory quarantine prior to testing positive.

§ 0 of the previous positive individuals have recovered and have been removed from the isolation list.

§ 5 of the current positive individuals are hospitalized.

§ 2 of the new positive individuals are inmates of the Albion Correctional Facility.

Travel Update: Asymptomatic travelers entering New York from another U.S. state or territory are no longer required to test or quarantine as of April 1, 2021. Quarantine, consistent with the CDC recommendations for international travel, is still recommended for domestic travelers who are not fully vaccinated or have not recovered from laboratory confirmed COVID-19 during the previous 3 months.

Symptomatic travelers must immediately self-isolate and contact their healthcare provider or local health department to determine if they should seek COVID-19 testing.

ALL travelers are still required to complete the Health Traveler Form and must: · Monitor symptoms daily from day of arrival in New York through day 14; · Continue strict adherence to all recommended non-pharmaceutical interventions, including hand hygiene (wash/sanitize frequently) and the use of face coverings, through Day 14 (even if fully vaccinated); and · Must immediately self-isolate if any symptoms develop and contact their healthcare provider or local public health department to report this change in clinical status and determine if they should seek testing.

Beginning April 2: Event, Arts, and Entertainment Venues- reopening at 33% capacity, up to 100 people indoors, 200 people outdoors. With attendee testing, capacity increases to 150 people indoors, 500 people outdoors. Rapid test is valid for 6 hours; PCR test is valid for 72 hours. Social distancing and face coverings are required by all attendees. It can be printed or stored digitally on a smartphone. Businesses and venues can scan and validate your pass to ensure you meet any COVID-19 vaccination or testing requirements for entry. Adults may hold passes for accompanying minors. To continue the fight against COVID and prepare for the next public health emergency, the State announced the launch of a free, online Citizen Public Health Training course for New Yorkers. This innovative course, delivered by the New York State Department of Health in partnership with Cornell University and supported by the State University of New York, will prepare and equip New Yorkers to become NYS Citizen Public Health Leaders and build an informed network of community health leaders across the state. Revised Skilled Nursing Facility Visitation: https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/system/files/documents/2021/03/updated_nursing_home_visitation_guidance.pdf There are strict guidelines, but here are some highlights: Visitation can be conducted through different means based on the facility’s structure and residents’ needs. · All who enter the facility will be screened for signs and symptoms of COVID-19, and denial of entry of those with signs or symptoms or those who had close contact with someone with COVID-19 infection in the prior 14 days (regardless of the visitor’s vaccination status); · Hand hygiene (use of alcohol-based hand rub is preferred); · The use of face coverings or masks (covering nose and mouth); · Social distancing at least six feet between persons; · Instructional signage will be throughout the facility and proper visitor education on COVID-19 symptoms, infections control precautions and other applicable facility practices (e.g. use of face covering/mask, specified entries, exits and routes to designated areas, hand hygiene); · Cleaning and disinfecting high frequency touched surfaces in the facility often, and designated visitation areas after each visit; · Appropriate staff use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); · Effective cohorting of residents (e.g. separate areas dedicated to COVID-19 care);
