WYOMING COUNTY/Warsaw man killed in ATV accident on Miller road

On April 14, 2021 at 6:56 a.m., the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office Communications Division received a 911 call of an ATV accident with a person trapped underneath on Miller Road near the Railroad Crossing in the Town of Warsaw. Deputy Bliss was first on location at 7:02 a.m. and discovered the person deceased and he was identified as Gregory E. Kersch- age 24 of Warsaw.

The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office Crash Management Team is conducting the investigation. The preliminary investigation and crash data indicates Gregory Kersch was traveling alone in the early morning hours on his four wheel ATV. He was northbound on Miller Road when he struck the railroad crossing signal light post at the railroad crossing. Gregory Kersch was ejected and the ATV was on top of him.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. It is not believed a train was in the area at the time of the crash nor was anyone else involved. Assisting was: Wyoming County Coroner Michael Smith, the Railroad Police and the Warsaw Police Department.
