GENESEE COUNTY/The Notre Dame High School family comes together in prayer for a 2018 graduate who is fighting for his life after a serious motor vehicle accident

The Notre Dame High School family gathered in prayer at the grotto behind the school on Tuesday afternoon for Jack Houseknecht, 21, a 2018 graduate, who is fighting for his life at Strong Hospital after a motor vehicle accident on April 20, 2021 in Wyoming County.

Houseknecht was traveling on East road in the Town of Middlebury last Tuesday afternoon on his way to work, when he collided with a farm implement that was attached to a tractor. According to Houseknecht’s family, he suffered a severe brain injury and a broken neck. He underwent brain surgery upon arrival at Strong Hospital after being transported by Mercy Flight. Doctors were not sure he would make it.

This past Friday, he suffered a set back after suffering a collapsed lung, but according to his family he is still fighting and still here.

“They told us its going to be a long road, they are amazed he is alive. Just got to keep hoping for the best,” says family member Liz Brinkman.

Tomorrow evening, April 28, 2021 a 7:00p.m., the Northgate Free Methodist Church is opening their sanctuary on Bank street road for prayer and healing for Jack Houseknecht.
