GENESEE COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/LeRoy man found in woods by K-9 Frankie after running from deputies during an attempted traffic stop

On June 9, 2021, at 12:59a.m., Deputy Moore attempted to conduct a traffic stop of a vehicle in the area of Selden road and Rt. 19 in the Town of LeRoy. The alleged operator, later identified as Stephen J. Rucinski, 38, of W. Main St., LeRoy, fled from the vehicle into a wooded area north of Selden road.

Deputy Chamoun and Deputy Mullen, along with K-9 Frankie, then responded to the scene to assist in locating Rucinski.

Following a successful track by K-9 Frankie, Rucinski was located in the wooded area and was taken into custody without incident. He was allegedly in possession of a controlled substance and was allegedly operating the vehicle with a suspended New York driver’s license.

Rucinski is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th, obstructing governmental administration 2nd, aggravated unlicensed operation 2nd and no/inadequate license plate lamps.

He was released with appearance tickets and will appear in LeRoy Town Court on July 6, 2021 at 5:00p.m.

Also assisting with the incident was Sgt. Hale and members of the LeRoy Police Department.
