WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/LeRoy man charged after reportedly running other vehicles off the road

A traffic complaint led to the arrest of Mathew W. Ianiro, 26, of LeRoy, after his vehicle was reported to have been forcing other vehicles off the roadway.

Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies responded as the vehicle had just entered Wyoming County on Route 19 in the Town of Covington on July 9, 2021. Deputies intercepted the vehicle on Saltvale Road at Burke Hill Road in the Town of Warsaw, where it was observed to be traveling at a speed of 74mph in a 55mph speed zone.

Following a traffic stop on Saltvale Road, Ianiro was found to be the driver and only occupant. Ianiro was found to allegedly have open bottles of liquor and concentrated cannabis inside his vehicle, and allegedly exhibited signs of impairment.

Ianiro was also found to have a NYS Conditional Driver’s License from a 2020 suspension for driving while ability impaired by alcohol. After performing poorly on standardized field sobriety testing, Ianiro was taken into custody and his vehicle was towed from the scene. He was transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office for a breath chemical test and for processing.

Ianiro is charged with aggravated unlicensed operation 1st degree, a class E felony, DWI, driving with .08% BAC or higher, reckless driving, speed over 55mph, operation in violation of conditional license, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, consumption of cannabis in motor vehicle

He was arraigned in Warsaw Town Court for purposes of suspending his license pending prosecution. Ianiro’s driver’s license was suspended pending prosecution, and following arraignment he was released on his own recognizance in compliance with NYS Bail Reform. Ianiro is scheduled to return to Warsaw Town Court on July 26, 2021.

Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the scene of a reported head-on collision involving three vehicles on Route 20A at Route 77, in the Town of Sheldon on July 9, 2021.

Isaac J. Thomas, 23, of Buffalo, NY was the driver of a 2016 Jeep Patriot. Thomas was stopped on Route 77, facing southbound at a stop sign, and then proceeded into the intersection and into the oncoming lane of traffic, colliding with a Chevrolet Silverado which was traveling westbound.

During the collision, the Silverado was sent into the front end of a 2021 Peterbilt feed truck, which was stopped on Route 20A in a turning lane waiting to make a left hand turn. Three total vehicle occupants were transported to the Wyoming County Community Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Thomas was issued one citation for failure to yield the right-of-way at a stop sign. He is scheduled to answer the charges in the Town of Sheldon Court on July 28, 2021.

DMR Towing responded to the scene and removed all involved vehicles from the scene. Also assisting at the scene, hte New York State Police, Wyoming County Emergency Services, Monroe Ambulance, Sheldon Fire Department, Strykersville Fire Department, North Java Fire Department, and Cowlesville Fire Department.

Parker E. Payton, 22, of Pavilion, was arrested following a traffic stop on Wallace Road in the Town of Covington on July 8, 2021.

Payton was stopped after deputies, who were familiar with Payton, observed Payton driving with a revoked driver’s license. Payton had two active revocations and two active suspensions on his driver’s license, one of which revocations was from a conviction for DWAI/drugs.

Payton was arrested roadside and issued an appearance ticket on the charges of aggravated unlicensed operation in the second degree, aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree, and unlicensed operation. Payton is scheduled to answer the charges in the Town of Covington Court on July 26, 2021.
