ORLEANS COUNTY/Woman dies in early morning house fire in Kendall

The Orleans County Sheriff’s Office, is investigating a tragic fatal house fire that occurred on July 31st, 2021, at 4:53 AM in the Town of Kendall.

  The Orleans County Sheriff’s 911 Center receive a 911 call of a house fire with a person trapped at 1965 Peter Smith rd., in the Town of Kendall.

Sheriff’s Deputy Joseph Laudico was on scene with in nine minutes and discovered a fully involved working house fire.  Attempts to gain entry were to no avail due to the heavy fire conditions.

   A total of four people resided at this address, three adults and one child. Two adults and the child were able to escape the fire. Firefighters discovered the body of 73 year old Judy A. Snyder in a bedroom hallway.

   This fatal fire is being investigated by the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office CID/Fire Investigators, O.C. Emergency Management/Fire Investigators, NY State Fire and the Orleans County Corners Office and the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office.

   Kendall Fire Department was assisted by Carlton F.C., Hamlin-Morton-Walker F.D., Murray F.D., Brockport F.D., and the Orleans County Department of Public Works.

   The investigation in continuing into the cause and origin of this fire.

  1. I was blessed to be visiting close family on Petersmith Road for a small reunion. Traveling in from the Hudson Valley near Kingston/Woodstock area.
    Saw the remains of the home. Very tragic.
    Horrific scene. Such a very sad situation. May God personally welcome Judy into His loving arms.
    God is in charge of the healing and not the event.
    Never be angry with God. This is just another one of LIVE’s occurences.
