WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/August 30, 2021

Boubacar Sow, 23, of Bronx, NY, was arrested following a DWI Crackdown Patrol traffic stop on Route 20A in the Town of Perry on August 29, 2021.

Sow was stopped for speeding at which time the odor of burned marijuana was detected coming from within the vehicle. After a roadside interview, it was also determined that Sow’s temporary Texas plates, which were being displayed on his vehicle, were obtained fraudulently the day prior and were therefore invalid.

Sow’s vehicle was found to actually have a New York State registration which was suspended for insurance purposes. A subsequent probable cause search of Sow’s vehicle, due to the odor of burned marijuana, led to the discovery of cannabis, smoking paraphernalia, and also a stolen New York State license plate.

Sow performed poorly on roadside field sobriety testing and was subsequently taken into custody.

Sow’s vehicle was towed from the scene, and he was taken to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office where he was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert. Sow was determined to allegedly be impaired by drugs and unable to operate a vehicle safely.

He is charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree, driving while ability impaired by drugs, operating while registration suspended, speeding in a zone, consumption of cannabis in a motor vehicle, non-transparent windows, unregistered motor vehicle, uninsured motor vehicle, uninspected motor vehicle, and improper plates.

Sow was issued an appearance ticket and will answer the charges in the Town of Perry Court on September 15, 2021. Sow was released from custody. Assisting the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office at the scene were New York State Police and Eddy’s Collision & More.
