WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Four facing drug trafficking charges after a traffic stop in Warsaw

A traffic stop on Route 20A in the Town of Warsaw led to the seizure of 21 ounces of Codeine, an opiate narcotic drug, and 47 grams of Cannabis wax, which were being trafficked from Buffalo, NY to New York City, NY. Four suspects were charged with a Class A-I Felony and committed to the Wyoming County Jail.

Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a traffic stop with a 2021 Mercedes-Benz for traffic infractions. During the traffic stop deputies developed probable cause to conduct a vehicle search. During the vehicle search, 10 ounces of Codeine were found concealed inside a back pack, 10 more ounces of Codeine were found concealed inside the locked glove compartment, and another ounce of Codeine was located in the rear seat area. 47 grams of Cannabis wax were also found concealed inside the same backpack. The vehicle was impounded, and all four vehicle occupants were taken into custody. One of the occupants gave a false identification which was discovered after fingerprints were taken. Arraignment took place in Warsaw Town Court, and a bail hearing took place in Wyoming County Court the next day. Charges and current status are as follows:

Ahmed N. Saleh, age 22.

Saleh is charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree [Class A-I Felony], Unlawful Possession of Cannabis, Consumption of Cannabis in Motor Vehicle, Non-Transparent Front Windshield, Non-Transparent Side Windows, and Disobeying a Traffic Control Device. Saleh is currently being held in the Wyoming County Jail in lieu of $100,000.00 cash bail, $200,000.00 bond, or $300,000.00 partially secured bond.

Mouhamed Jah, age 22.

Jah is charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree [Class A-I Felony] and Consumption of Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle. Jah is currently being held in the Wyoming County Jail in lieu of $250,000.00 cash bail, $500,000.00 bond, or $750,000.00 partially secured bond.

Tyler A. Hall-Canale, age 20.

Hall-Canale is charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree [Class A-I Felony] and Consumption of Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle. Hall-Canale is currently being held in the Wyoming County Jail in lieu of $250,000.00 cash bail, $500,000.00 bond, or $750,000.00 partially secured bond.

Mbaye A. Mbengue, age 21.

Mbengue is charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree [Class A-I Felony], Criminal Impersonation in the Second Degree, Forgery in the Second Degree, and Consumption of Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle. Hall-Canale was initially being held in the Wyoming County Jail in lieu of $250,000.00 cash bail, $500,000.00 bond, or $750,000.00 partially secured bond, until it was discovered he had given a false name. Mbengue was re-arraigned and is currently being held in the Wyoming County Jail without bail. Mbengue was found to have an outstanding bench warrant for his arrest for failure to appear on a felony charge of Criminal Possession of a Firearm.

The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate this incident with other law enforcement partners, and additional charges are possible.

A South Carolina woman is charged following a traffic complaint on Route 78 in the Town of Sheldon on September 4, 2021.

Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area after the report of a vehicle driving into oncoming traffic. Upon arrival, deputies located Rolinda P. Little, 59, of North Charleston, NC, passed out at the wheel of her 2000 Dodge Caravan and parked in the parking lot at the Kwik Fill gas station.

Little was awakened by deputies, and was observed exhibiting general indicators of drug impairment.

Little performed poorly on standardized field sobriety testing at which time she was taken into custody.

A subsequent vehicle search found Little to allegedly be in possession of drug paraphernalia, personal use quantities of suspected Methamphetamine, suspected Cocaine, and a metal knuckle knife. Little’s vehicle was towed from the scene, and she was taken to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office for a drug influence evaluation by a Drug Recognition Expert. Little was determined to be impaired by drugs and unable to operate a vehicle safely.

Little is charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree, and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree. Little was issued an appearance ticket and then released in compliance with NYS bail reform. Little is scheduled to appear for arraignment in the Town of Sheldon Court on September 20, 2021.
