The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal accident on Chappell road in Byron that occurred on September 25, 2021.
911 Dispatchers received a call of a vehicle into a barn with an unresponsive driver about 6:11p.m.
Deputies, along with Mercy EMS and members of the Byron and S. Byron Fire Departments responded to the scene.
The initial investigation revealed the Dustin M. Nemec, no age provided, of Elba was operating a 2020 Volkswagen, eastbound on Chapell road and failed to negotiate a curve and went off the north shoulder of the road, striking a tree and then a barn.
Nemec was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident remains under investigation by the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office.
