WYOMING COUNTY/Apartment fire in Warsaw causes $50,000 in damages

A lower front apartment at 183 South Main street in the Village of Warsaw sustained heavy fire damage after a house fire on Friday September 24, 2021.

Fire crews from Warsaw, Silver Springs, Wyoming, Perry, Perry Center and Castile responded to the scene about 6:24p.m. and were on scene for about 6.5 hours.

According to Wyoming County Office of Emergency Services, the building contained three apartments and the fire started in the lower front apartment which sustained heavy fire damage. The other two apartments suffered heavy smoke damage and are not habitable at this time. Each apartment was occupied by one person. All occupants are being assisted and staying with family and friends. The building is owned by Ed Schoff.

A firefighter sustained a hand injury and was treated at the scene.

Estimated loss is $50,000 and the cause is under investigation .

Also assisting on scene, Wyoming County Emergency Management, Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department, Monroe Ambulance, Warsaw Police, NYS Police and NYSEG.
