Chairperson of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s event, Kim Arnold, says this years fundraising event has gone over the goal to raise $55,000.
“We cover Genesee and Wyoming County and some of the fringes of the outer lying counties and they have been so generous this year, super generous, we hit over goal and we are psyched about that,” says Arnold.
Last year the group held a smaller event and started a virtual walk option.
This year the event was held in person at Dwyer Stadium in Batavia and virtual with social distancing in mind.
Participants were able to register online and walk days before the event, walk the day of the event, or a few days after the event, and then post photos of their walk online or at the Walk to End Alzheimer’s Facebook page.
“To be on walk day and over goal it shows people are really digging deeper and they really believe in the commitment to fight the disease as well as knowing people who have Alzheimer’s disease and getting help from the Alzheimer’s Association.”
