WYOMING COUNTY/A fire caused by a malfunctioning power strip damages home in Eagle

An electrical power strip malfunction caused $50,000 in damages at a residence located at 6648 Rt. 362 in the Town of Eagle on Sunday afternoon.

Fire crews from Bliss, Arcade, North Java and Pike were called to the Stephen Zalewski residence about 4:02p.m. for smoke coming from a window.

According to the Office of Emergency Services, the fire was on the second floor of the home in a common area. The second floor sustained heavy fire damage and the first floor suffered smoke damage throughout.

Two adult residents are being assisted by the Red Cross.

Fire crews were on scene for about 2.5 hours.

Also assisting on scene was Wyoming County Emergency Management and the Red Cross.
