The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a two-vehicle accident that occurred at Rt. 98 and Lockport road late Monday afternoon.
According to Sgt. Andrew Hale, a preliminary investigation shows a car headed west on Lockport road failed to stop at the stop sign and was then t-boned by a southbound car at the intersection with Rt. 98. The three occupants of the westbound car were transported to Strong Hospital. A 6-year-old girl, a rear passenger in the westbound car, was ejected from the vehicle after it struck a guard rail. She was located at the bottom of a grassy area by a passerby who stopped to assist.
The 6-year-old girl was transported to Strong Hospital by Mercy Flight as precautionary. At this hour, Sgt. Hale reports she was not injured in the accident. The driver and her minor aged son were transported to Strong Hospital as well. Their injuries are not life threatening. The driver of the southbound car on Rt. 98 was not injured.
According to Sgt. Hale, the 6-year-old girl was not secured in a car seat. Charges are pending for the driver of the westbound car in the accident.
UPDATE: According to a Genesee County Sheriff’s Office press release, the 2007 Honda Civic was being operated by Mikayla Bard of Brockport. She and a front seat passenger suffered minor injuries and were transported to Strong Hospital via ambulance. The ejected passenger suffered minor injuries after follow up with Strong Hospital.
Alcohol is not a factor in the accident.
The 2008 Toyota Prius was being operated by Faez Alsaadi of Syracuse, NY.
The crash is being investigated by Chief Deputy Freiday, Sgt. Hale, Sgt. Saile, Investigator Forsyth, Deputy Schildwaster, Deputy Demuth, Deputy Mullen, and Deputy Chamoun. Assisting on scene with the accident, Elba, Oakfield and Barre Volunteer Fire Departments, Mercy EMS, and the NYS Police.
