The call for a mobile home fire at Hidden Valley Estates in Bergen came into Genesee County dispatchers about 7:54p.m. on Thursday evening.
A neighbor to 84 Woodside drive kicked in the front door to help get the sole occupant, an older woman, out of the residence. About 5 minutes into the call, Bergen Assistant Fire Chief Garrett Dean was the first to arrive on scene. Dean says the neighbor thought the older female occupant was behind the door he kicked in, but he could not get her out. Dean says he didn’t even bother to put his gear on.
