WYOMING COUNTY/Two treated on scene after being briefly trapped in a garage fire in Orangeville

Two occupants were briefly trapped inside a garage that caught fire at 2901 Rt. 98 in the Town of Orangeville on Saturday afternoon, after a fire broke out inside the unattached structure.

Five fire companies, Varysburg, Attica, North Java, Sheldon and Warsaw, responded about 2:27p.m.

According to the Wyoming County Office of Emergency Services, the owner of the garage, Chris Moroz, was making repairs to the fuel system on an SUV and spilled gasoline on the floor, which was ignited by a propane heater inside the garage. The owner and another occupant were trapped inside the garage for a short period of time prior to being able to escape the structure. Both were treated for smoke inhalation on scene and released.

Estimated damages are about $50,000. The cause is listed as accidental. Fire crews were on scene about 3 hours.
