NYS Police/Varysburg man charged with felony DWI

 On April 8, 2022, at 5:33p.m., Troopers out of SP Warsaw arrested Shawn R. Eley, 36, of Varysburg, NY, for driving while intoxicated, previous conviction, an E-felony, aggravated DWI, an E-felony, refusal to take breath test, failure to obey traffic device, drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle and operating motor vehicle without proper bumper.

On April 8, 2022, Troopers observed a vehicle traveling northbound on Rt.19 in the town of Warsaw with heavy front-end damage and bumper falling off into the roadway. When Troopers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, Eley continued to travel northbound through road closure signs.

Eley eventually pulled over and was placed under arrest. After failing field sobriety tests, he was transported to SP Warsaw for processing, where Eley recorded a .23% BAC.

He was issued traffic tickets returnable to the town of Warsaw court on April 25, 2022.
