WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Queens man charged with money laundering after traffic stop

On April 8, 2022, at approximately 6:26 p.m., a deputy from the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Route 20A in the Town of Perry after observing multiple vehicle and traffic violations.

The operator and lone occupant of the vehicle identified himself as Andy Lam, 24, of Queens, NY. During a roadside interview, the deputy established reasonable suspicion that Lam was involved in criminal activity.

A consent search was conducted of Lam’s vehicle, which yielded $36,460.00 in United States Currency.

The currency was packaged and concealed in denominations consistent with criminal activity.

Genesee County Sheriff’s Deputy Mullen and K-9 Frankie responded and conducted a narcotics sweep of Lam’s property. K-9 Frankie did positively alert/indicate to the presence of a narcotic odor on Lam’s property.

Lam was subsequently arrested and charged with money laundering in the fourth degree, speeding in a zone and failure to keep right. Lam was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Perry Court at a later date.

On April 21, 2022 Wyoming County Sheriff Office arrested Dominic Mainella Jr., 56, of Sloan, NY, for a residential day time burglary that occurred in the Town of Arcade, NY in November 2021.

Mainella Jr. is charged with burglary 2nd degree, criminal mischief 3rd degree, and petit larceny. Mainella was arrested after a search warrant was executed at his home in Sloan, NY.

The investigation was a joint effort with the Cattaraugus County Sheriff Office who is investigating a similar burglary in Machias, NY that also occurred in November 2021. Further charges are expected to be filed. The Erie County Sheriff Office also assisted with the search warrant and arrest.

Mainella was arraigned in Warsaw Court and committed to jail without bail due to having multiple felony convictions. He is to appear in Arcade Town Court on May 5, 2022.

On April 12, 2022, Cody Crandall, 25, of Warsaw, NY, was arrested for failure to register his address with law enforcement. He is a level 1 sex offender and is required to register his address within 10 days of moving. Crandall had been residing in Warsaw, but he had not updated his address in the timeframe allowed. Crandall was issued an appearance ticket to Warsaw Village Court for May 2, 2022.

A traffic stop for speeding (72/55) on Route 39 in the Town of Eagle, resulted in the arrest of Jeremy R. Weixlmann, 34, of Delevan, NY, for aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree.

After an investigation, it was found that Weixlmann had a suspended license, showing one active suspension for failure to appear in the Town of Yorkshire on February 22, 2022. He is charged with aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd and a speed violation exceeding 55 mph.

Weixlmann was issued an appearance ticket and is due back in the Town of Eagle Court on May 2, 2022.
