The Murray Town Board voted 3-1 with one councilperson abstaining, to have the Town Supervisor Joe Sidonio resign on Monday evening. Sidonio used racial slurs and vulgar language about women who are town employees in phone conversations that were recorded.

Councilperson Paul Hendel read a statement before the public comments section of the meeting and introduced a motion to have Sidonio resign, it was seconded by Councilmember Lloyd Christ. Hendel and Christ voted yes along with Councilmember Randy Bower. Councilperson/Deputy Town Supervisor Mike Mele abstained from voting as he would become supervisor if Sidonio resigns.

Sidonio was the only no vote and told the community he is not resigning and did not do anything illegal as he thought it was a private conversation.
