ORLEANS COUNTY/Medina Police arrest teen after stealing car from dealer, causing police pursuit

During the early morning hours of August 30, 2022, an individual allegedly broke into Hartway Motors at 320 N. Main street and allegedly stole keys to multiple vehicles. Police say the suspect then stole one of the vehicles and left the scene.

The Medina Police Department attempted to stop the suspect vehicle and a pursuit ensued.

The pursuit ended on Rt. 63, south of the Village of Medina, and the suspect, an 18-year-old male, was taken into custody.

The teen is charged with several felonies, burglary 3rd degree, grand larceny 4th, criminal mischief 3rd degree, along with misdemeanor and traffic offenses. He was transported to the Orleans County Jail to await arraignment. The teen’s name is not being released at this time.

The Medina Police Department commends Sgt. Michael Borrell who initiated the investigation and his actions led to a quick resolution in the incident. Also assisting in the investigation, Sgt. Christian Navas, members of the Orleans County Sheriff’s Department and Sheriff’s Dispatch.
