Acting Genesee County Court Judge Michael Mohun, sentenced 38-year-old Nicholas Maher to a determinate state prison sentence of 23 years in state prison on Friday morning in Genesee County Court in the death of Maher’s father.
On October 17, 2021 at about 10:57a.m., the Genesee County Emergency Communications Center received a phone call from a family member of Martin Maher, a 69 year year old resident of 32 Drake street in Oakfield. The family member had not been able to make contact with Maher and requested that a welfare check be made at his residence.
Sheriff Deputies responded to the residence and located Martin Maher deceased inside the home. It was determined that Maher was the victim of a homicide.
In May 2022, Nicholas Maher accepted a plea deal and pleaded guilty to manslaughter first degree, a class B violent felony. Maher was also sentenced to 5 years of Post Release Supervision and several Orders of Protection were issued.
