PERRY POLICE REPORT/Perry man charged after DWI investigation

PERRY, NY- Chief Michael J. Grover reports the arrest of a Perry resident on several charges following a DWI investigation by the Perry Police Department.

On September 24, 2022, at approximately 9:41p.m., Officer Kramell conducted a traffic stop on Chestnut street for multiple vehicle and traffic law violations. Upon interacting with the suspect, 55-year-old Scott M. Briggs, of Perry, NY, Officer Kramell suspected Briggs to be intoxicated.

Officer Kramell requested Briggs submit to standardized field sobriety tests, which he complied. Briggs did not perform the tests as instructed and was subsequently arrested for DWI.

Briggs was processed at the Perry Police Department where he voluntarily submitted to a chemical breath test to determine his blood alcohol content (BAC). The chemical test revealed that Briggs had a BAC of .21%.

Per NYS Bail Reform laws, Briggs was released to a sober third party and is to appear in Perry Village Court on 10/11/2022 on the below charges.

CHARGES:

​Vehicle and Traffic Law-1120(a)-Fail to Keep Right

​Vehicle and Traffic Law-1128(d)-Drove Across Hazard Marking

​Vehicle and Traffic Law- 1192-3 DWI-Common Law

​Vehicle and Traffic Law-1192-2 DWI BAC .18% of 1% or higher
