WYOMING COUNTY/Distracted driving causes semi rollover in Genesee Falls

The Wyoming County Office of Emergency Services says distracted driving was the cause of a tractor trailer roll over at 6963 Rt. 19A in the town of Genesee Falls on October 18, 2022.

The Pike Fire Department responded to the accident about 9:05a.m.

According to the Wyoming County Office of Emergency Services, the operator of the truck was not injured when he went off the road causing the truck to roll onto its side. The truck was transporting 8,000 gallons of milk which was spilled into a ditch. The Pike Fire Department was able to contain the majority of the spill prior to reaching the Genesee River. The Wyoming County Hazmat Team and NYS DEC assisted at the scene to mitigate any potential environmental issues with the spill.

The owner of the truck is Bugman & Sons Inc., emergency crews were on scene for about 2 hours.

Also assisting on scene, Wyoming County Emergency Services, Wyoming County Hazmat Team, Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department, NYS Police, NYS DOT, NYS DEC and NYSEG.
