WYOMING COUNTY/Registered sex offender facing rape and kidnapping charges after woman held against her will for two days

PERRY, NY- The Perry Police Department reports the arrest of a Middlebury resident on multiple felony charges following an investigation by the Perry Police Department.
On December 28, 2022, Officers McKaylee Croll, David Spink, and Sergeant Blake Russell, arrested 54-year-old William A. Snyder on an arrest warrant on Saltvale road in the Town of Middlebury.

Snyder is currently a registered sex offender.

Snyder is charged with rape 1st degree, forcible compulsion, criminal sex act,1st degree/by force, kidnapping 1st degree/physical injury, and criminal contempt 1st degree/physical menace.

An investigation by Perry Police Department revealed that Snyder allegedly violated a full stay away order of protection against a 65-year-old woman and held her against her will at her residence for over two days. During the incident, Snyder allegedly sexually assaulted the victim, resulting in physical injury.

Snyder was processed at the Perry Police Department and was arraigned in Perry Village Court by the Honorable Tammy Kelsey. Snyder was remanded to Wyoming County Jail held without bail. Snyder is to re-appear in Perry Village Court on January 10, 2023.
