A crew from Power & Construction Group replaced the city owned two-acorn style post top luminaries at the Redfield Parkway pillars at West Main Street on Tuesday morning.
The new LED lights are significantly brighter and light more of the area around the pillars and are part of phase I of the LED Capital Project.
The LED Street Light Initiative is administered by the New York Power Authority. The City Council approved the LED Capital Project to replace all City owned lights (high pressure sodium vapor) in the summer of 2022.
According to City Manager Rachael Tabelski, the remainder of the lights on the parkway will be replaced with LED lighting when the project enters phase II. The City of Batavia is waiting for the Public Service Commission to approve the City’s purchase of the lights from National Grid.
