WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/June 9, 2023

The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office arrested Kristen N. Schultz, 31, of Buffalo, NY, charging her with aggravated unlicensed operation following a traffic stop on Route 20A in the Town of Perry on May 24, 2023.

Deputies on patrol observed a vehicle traveling above the posted speed limit of 55MPH. A traffic stop was conducted and during the traffic stop, it was discovered that Schultz’ license was currently
suspended in New York for failing to pay a driver’s assessment.

Schultz was issued citations for speeding over 55MPH and aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd degree. Schulz answered the charges on June 7, 2023 in the Town of Perry Court.

Following a traffic stop for a license plate violation on Route 98 in the Town of Arcade on May 26, 2023, the vehicle operator, Sandy J. Gai, 20, of Buffalo, was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd degree.

Gai has three active suspensions on his permit from the City of Lackawanna for failure to appear.

Gai is charged with aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd degree, no/single license plate
and operating out of restrictions.

Gui was issued an appearance ticket and appeared in the Town of Arcade Court on 06/08/23 at 3:00 PM.

On May 26, 2023, at approximately 4:00PM, the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office Road
Patrol received a complaint of an erratic driver, traveling eastbound on Route 20A in the
Town of Perry.

A deputy conducted a traffic stop of the suspect vehicle, after observing violations of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law. After speaking with the operator, Rauf Yearde, 31, of Bronx, NY, the investigating deputy observed signs of possible drug impairment.
Yearde did submit to a roadside field sobriety test, where he performed poorly. Yearde
was transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office, where he did submit to a Drug
Influence Evaluation conducted by a certified Drug Recognition Expert. At the conclusion of the
evaluation, the Drug Recognition Expert advised that Yearde was impaired by drugs, and
unable to operate a vehicle safely.

Yearde is charged with DWAI/Drugs, along with multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. Yearde was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to return to the Town of Perry Court at a later date.

On May 26, 2023, at approximately 11:58 PM, a Deputy from the Wyoming County Sheriff’s
Office conducted a traffic stop on Route 20A in the Town of Perry, after observing a
violation of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.

The operator of the vehicle identified himself as Anthony Owens, 27, of Dudley, North Carolina and advised deputies that he was operating with a suspended license. While speaking with Owens, the investigating deputy began to observe signs consistent with drug impairment and Owens was asked to submit to standardized field sobriety testing. Owens performed poorly on the roadside testing and was transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office, where he was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert. At the conclusion of the evaluation, the Drug Recognition Expert advised that Owens was allegedly impaired by Drugs and was unable to operate a vehicle safely.

Owens is charged with DWAI/Drugs, speeding in a zone, unlicensed operator and consumption of cannabis in a motor vehicle. Owens was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Perry Court at a later date.

George Schulze, 61, of West Valley, NY, was arrested following a traffic complaint on Route 78
in the Town of Gainesville on May 27, 2023. It was reported to the Wyoming County 911 center of a vehicle traveling east on Route 78, driving with no front tire. The vehicle was located and a vehicle and traffic stop was conducted.

During the investigation, Schulze showed signs of impairment and subsequently failed standardize field sobriety testing roadside. Schulze was arrested and transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office, where he underwent an evaluation by a New York State Certified Drug Recognition Expert from the LeRoy Village Police Department. At the conclusion of the evaluation, the Drug Recognition Expert advised that Schulze was allegedly impaired by drugs and unable to operate a motor vehicle safely.

Schulze is charged with unsafe tire, failure to keep right, and DWAI/Drugs. Schulze was released on an appearance ticket and is to appear in the Town of Gainesville Court at a later date.

On May 29, 2023, at approximately 11:47AM, a Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office Deputy stopped a
vehicle for speeding in a zone on West Buffalo Street in the Village of Warsaw.

After a DMV check, it was discovered that the driver, Jomar Alfonso-Garcia, 39, of Buffalo, NY had a suspended New York State driver’s license for failure to answer a summons.
Alfonso-Garcia was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd degree and
speeding in a zone. Alfonso-Garcia was released on appearance tickets and is to appear in
Warsaw Village Court on July 10, 2023.

Deputies from the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle crash located on
Route 19A in the Town of Gainesville on May 21, 2023.
After an investigation, it was found that Michael Best, 53, of Dale, NY, left his lane and entered into the oncoming lane of traffic. Best then struck an oncoming SUV that contained two passengers.

Best was observed to have signs of impairment and performed poorly on standardized field sobriety testing. Subsequently, Best was arrested and charged with DWAI/Drugs. A certified NYS drug recognition
expert performed an evaluation on Best and determined he was unable to operate a motor
vehicle safely.
Best is charged with failure to keep right, driving while ability impaired by drugs, criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th degree. Best is to appear in Gainesville Town Court at a later date to answer for the charges.

On May 30, 2023 at approximately 1:27 PM, a deputy from the Wyoming County Sheriff’s
Office was patrolling on Route 20A in the Town of Warsaw and witnessed two vehicles
nearly collide head on.

While attempting to pass, an eastbound vehicle forced a westbound vehicle to move entirely from the driving lane to avoid a collision. A traffic stop was conducted and the operator of the at fault vehicle was identified as Nirav Patel, 40, of Unionville, Ontario, Canada.

Patel was arrested and charged with reckless driving and following too closely. An adult passenger in Patel’s vehicle was additionally issued a ticket for not wearing a seat belt. Patel was issued an
appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Warsaw Court at a later date.

On June 2, 2023, at around 1:06 AM, deputies were operating stationary patrol on Route
19A near the entrance to Letchworth State Park in the Town of Genesee Falls, when a
vehicle was observed traveling southbound with the passenger side brake light not functioning.

Deputies pursued the vehicle and initiated a vehicle and traffic enforcement stop on
Hamilton Street (State Route 436). The driver was identified as Jessica M. Dietz , 32, of Hornell,
NY, and a data check showed Dietz’s driving privileges in New York were suspended three
times on three separate dates, all for failure to answer a summons, and she also only possessed a
non-driver ID only NYS ID.

Dietz was ultimately charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the 2nd degree, unlicensed operator and no/inadequate stop lamps. Dietz was processed roadside and released on
an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Genessee Falls Court at a later date.

Following a traffic stop for an exhaust violation on Main Street in the Village of Arcade, the
operator, Willard J. Apperson, 40, of Scio, NY was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed
operation in the third degree. Apperson allegedly has two active suspensions on his
license from Allegany County for failure to appear.

Apperson is charged with aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd degree and no/insufficient muffler.
Apperson was given an appearance ticket for all his charges and is due back in the Village of
Arcade Court on 06/15/23.

Cynthia M. Lepage, 31, of Buffalo, NY was arrested following traffic stop on Route 20A in the
Town of Sheldon on June 3, 2023. Lepage was observed passing cars at a speed of 86mph in a marked 55mph zone. Vehicles in the opposite lane had to move over in order to avoid being struck.
Lepage was also found to have an active suspension on her license out of the Village of Warsaw
Court and was subsequently arrested and charged with speeding 86/55MPH zone, unlicensed.
