GENESEE COUNTY/Sheriff’s Office makes arrest in string of vehicle thefts

The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Edward G. Ruckdeschel, 61, of Batavia, NY, charging him with two counts of Grand Larceny 3rd degree and two counts of Grand Larceny 4th degree, after allegedly stealing several motor vehicles.

The investigation was conducted by members of the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol and Criminal Investigation Divisions, with assistance from the New York State Police Troop A and the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office.

Throughout the investigation, several stolen vehicles were located throughout Genesee County and surrounding areas.

Ruckdeschel was arraigned in the Genesee County CAP Court by the Honorable D. Rogers
and remanded to the Genesee County Jail on no bail. The investigation is ongoing and several
additional charges are expected to be filed.
