WYOMING COUNTY/Two people seriously injured in morning accident on Rt. 20A in Warsaw

On October 30, 2023, at 6:49a.m., the Wyoming County 911 Center received the report of a head
on collision between two vehicles on Rt. 20A at the Orangeville and Warsaw town line.

Units arriving on scene located two involved vehicles with both drivers seriously injured and
trapped inside their vehicles. The roadway was immediately shut down and remained closed for approximately three hours.

Following scene reconstruction by the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office Crash Management Team, initial details of the collision are as follows:

A 2019 Ram pick-up truck was traveling westbound on Rt. 20A and failed to maintain its lane at a right hand curve at a hillcrest. The Ram pick-up crossed the centerline of the roadway into the eastbound lane, and struck an eastbound 2023 Ford van/truck head-on.

Factors regarding the Ram’s failure to maintain its lane are unknown at this time and remain under investigation.

Weather conditions at the time of the accident were light rain with dark lighting conditions and are not believed to be the primary contributing factor to the collision.

Both drivers were transported to Erie County Medical Center with serious injuries. Two other
passengers in the Ford van were transported to Wyoming County Community Health System for
non-life-threatening injuries.

No charges have been filed at this time as the incident remains under investigation, and names of those involved are being withheld due to ongoing family notifications.

Assisting the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office at the scene were: Warsaw Police Department,
New York State Police, Warsaw Fire Department [Commanding Officer Assistant Fire Chief
Joshua Crane], Varysburg Fire Department, Attica Fire Department, Silver Springs Fire
Department, Monroe Ambulance, Mercy EMS, Wyoming County Emergency Management,
New York State Department of Transportation, Eddy’s Collision & More, and Valley Sales &
Service.
