Schumer, Gillibrand secure over $2 million for Buffalo and WNY, including $58,000 for the Wyoming County Fire Training Center

Press release

The Wyoming County Board of Supervisors and Wyoming County Office of Emergency
Services are honored to announce the receipt of funds resulting from the U.S. Senate passing the
FY24 Appropriations Bill on Friday March 22, 2024. A total of $58,000 was secured as a
congressionally directed spending request by U.S. Senate Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer
and U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. This funding will be utilized for outfitting the Wyoming
County Fire Training Center following its planned renovation from June 2024 to mid-2025.

The Wyoming County Fire Training Center currently serves, and will continue to serve, as a training facility for State Fire and local classes as well as the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) for monitoring and managing major events. This funding will play a critical role in establishing the
Training Center as a fully functional EOC.

“We’d like to thank Senators Schumer and Gillibrand for their demonstrated support of our first
responders. This funding helps ensure we are able to continue to train, prepare for, and respond to emergencies in our area,” said Brian Meyers, Director of Fire and Emergency Management.

“On behalf of the Wyoming County Board of Supervisors and residents of Wyoming County we are deeply appreciative and supportive of our first responders. I am grateful to see that Senators Schumer and Gillibrand have carried this same support to the Federal level. The positive benefits achieved from this funding to outfit our renovated EOC will last long into the future,” said Rebecca Ryan, Chairwoman, Wyoming County Board of Supervisors.

The $58,000 was part of an over $2 million package that Senators Schumer and Gillibrand
worked personally to deliver to Buffalo and Western New York
