WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/March 27, 2024

While on stationary patrol in the Hamlet of Varysburg, deputies observed a speeding vehicle
traveling at 64 MPH in a 35 MPH speed zone.

A traffic stop was conducted with the operator, and during the stop it was found the driver, Benedict Wallace, 43, of North Fork, Ontario was currently suspended in New York State.

Deputies arrested Wallace and charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd degree and issued citations for speed in zone. Wallace is to answer the charges on April 15th, 2024 in the
Town of Sheldon Court

On March 27th, 2024, at around 1:50A.M, Michael P. Brown Jr., 35, of N. Java, NY, was arrested following a traffic stop on South Main Street, in the Village of Warsaw.

Brown was observed allegedly operating a motor vehicle southbound on South Main Street while the vehicle’s registration was suspended for an insurance lapse. Brown was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle while Registration Suspended/Revoked and was processed roadside before being released on an appearance ticket.

Brown is scheduled to appear in the Warsaw Village Court at a later date.

On March 22, 2024, at approximately 5:04 P.M., a Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office deputy stopped a
vehicle for a lighting violation on Chaffee Road in the Town of Arcade.

After a DMV check, it was found the driver, Christopher Ruehl, 40, of Houghton, NY, had a suspended New York State driver’s license.
Ruehl was arrested and charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the second
degree along with other vehicle and traffic infractions. Ruehl was released on appearance tickets and is to appear in Arcade Town Court on April 11, 2024.

On March 22, 2024, at approximately 06:48 P.M., Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a one car crash on Rt. 354 in the Town of Bennington. After speaking with the operator of the vehicle, Ian Long, 50, of Alexander, NY, the deputy recognized alleged signs of impairment from alcohol.

Long was asked to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Testing which he performed poorly on. Long was then transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office where he submitted to a breath test to determine his blood alcohol content. Long submitted a breath sample that was over the legal limit.
Long was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated DWI .18% BAC or Higher, and other traffic infractions.

Long was released on appearance tickets and is to appear in Bennington Town Court on March 24, 2024
