GENESEE COUNTY/Town and Country Garden Club of LeRoy Celebrates 70 Years of Cultivating Community Beauty and Connection

Press release

[LeRoy, New York – April 5th, 2024] – The Town and Country Garden Club of LeRoy proudly announces its
70th anniversary celebration, marking seven decades of enriching the local community through
horticulture, art, and civic engagement.

The celebration will take place on April 10th, 2024, at 6:30 PM, hosted at the Presbyterian Church of LeRoy.

In commemoration of this milestone, the Garden Club will be hosting an evening of camaraderie,
reflection, and appreciation for the years of dedicated service to the town of LeRoy. Cake and coffee will
be served to all attendees.

Distinguished guests expected to grace the occasion include esteemed members of the Village Board and
representatives from the Village Highway Department, highlighting the Garden Club’s longstanding
collaboration and support from local authorities.

A significant highlight of the celebration will be the announcement of a prestigious grant awarded to the
Town and Country Garden Club through the New York State Council of the Arts. This grant, with the
invaluable support of the office of the Governor and New York State Legislature and administered by Go
Art!, will fund the visionary project titled “Rooted Harmony: Artistic Benches Cultivating Community
Connection.”

Under this project, the Garden Club will collaborate with the renowned artist Stacey Mrva, known for
her exceptional work including the benches currently adorning Creekside. The project aims to create two
stunning benches to be situated at the Weiss Lot Greenspace, further enhancing the town’s public
spaces with artful installations that foster community engagement and cohesion.

Reflecting on their longstanding commitment to beautifying LeRoy, the Town and Country Garden Club
takes pride in its extensive portfolio of initiatives. The club designs and maintains all plantings at
prominent locations including the Weiss Lot, Main Street, Statue of Liberty, Gazebo, Trigon Park, and the
village’s three entrance beds.

Additionally, recent collaborations with the LeRoy Little League have seen the club contributing to the enhancement of greenery at the local field, demonstrating their dedication to enriching recreational spaces for all residents.

Beyond beautification efforts, the Garden Club extends its support to the community through initiatives
such as holiday decorations at the Post Office and Library, adding seasonal cheer to public spaces.
Furthermore, as part of its commitment to nurturing future generations, the Town and Country Garden
Club annually awards a $500 scholarship to a deserving high school senior, empowering local youth to
pursue their academic and professional aspirations.

As the Town and Country Garden Club of LeRoy commemorates 70 years of service, it reaffirms its
dedication to fostering beauty, community, and connection within the heart of LeRoy.
