The County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash involving a bicyclist in the area of 7824 Tesnow Road in the Town of Alabama.
The Genesee County Emergency Dispatch Center received the 911 call reporting the accident at 06:38 PM on February 23, 2025.
Upon arrival, patrols located a young man lying in the roadway who appeared to have been
struck while riding his bicycle by a 2022 black Chevy Blazer owned and operated by Daphne C.
Sundown, age 37, of Basom, NY. The young man was identified as Arthur G. Breton III, age 17, of
Corfu, NY.
Breton appeared to be riding his bicycle north on Tesnow Road in the northbound lane of
travel. Sundown and her son were also traveling northbound on Tesnow Road when she had crested
over the knoll in the road. Sundown, not able to see Breton, struck him with the front driver side of
her vehicle. This caused Breton to be ejected from his bicycle and onto the west shoulder of the
roadway.
Sundown and her son immediately exited her vehicle and began rendering aid while calling 911.
Alabama and Pembroke Fire Departments along with Mercy EMS responded to the scene and
performed life saving measures, however Breton ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was
pronounced deceased at the scene. At this time drugs and alcohol have been ruled out as
contributing factors.
The crash is being investigated by members Of the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office along
with the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office Crash Management Team. Assisting at the scene were
members of the Alabama and Pembroke Fire Departments, Mercy EMS, and several bystanders.
