GENESEE COUNTY/Kade’s Scratch Kitchen is open for business in Le Roy

Le Roy native, Beth Burger, with John Steward, formerly of Fairport, have made Le Roy their official home, raising their three children, Kaden (19), Theodore (6) and Amelia (4) in Le Roy and have now opened Kade’s Scratch Kitchen together at 15 Main Street in the Village of Le Roy. The venture is named after their oldest son Kaden, who loves the New Orleans Saints. The restaurant shares the Saint’s colors.

The couple met while working together at the Creekside Inn, which recently closed. Steward is a Sous Chef and Burger is server. Both jumped on the opportunity to open their own place together when Sweet Betty’s announced its closing.

“This was a long time coming. We’ve both been in the industry for numerous years now and we got to a point where we looked at each other and we saw an opportunity when Sweet Betty’s closed, so we said let’s go for it,” says Steward.

The previous owners were instrumental in helping the couple move forward with their joint venture. The previous owner’s daughter is working at Kade’s as a server. On opening day Wednesday, the community showed up right at 4:30p.m. to check out the place.

“We have classic family fare foods, but with a culinary twist to it,” says Steward.

“We really strive on getting to know our guests, building a rapport. We’re not here to just take your order and service you, we want to get to know you.”

Burger and Steward expressed they want everyone who comes to Kade’s to have an enjoyable, comfortable experience with high quality food and ingrediencies.

“The menu is made up of recognizable foods with a culinary twist. It’s all about freshness and really great sauces,” says Burger. “It’s the little touches here and there that separate our service from other restaurants,” says Steward.

The restaurant has five management staff, including the owners, and 15 hourly support staff.

“I think growing up here helps. People know we’ve been in the business a very long time. They know Johnny can cook, he’s really good at what he does,” says Burger.

Kade’s Scratch Kitchen will also eventually include an area for retail products made in house.

Ice cream will still be an option at Kade’s. “The ice cream is top of the line soft serve, it’s actually a custard,” says Burger.

Kade’s is planning to offer in house catering in the future.
