National Grid held a Live Line demonstration at the Genesee County Fire Training Center on Monday afternoon. The demo utilized a live line demo trailer to help people learn about the dangers posed by live electricity wires including downed wires and electrical contacts during weather events and emergencies. Benjamin Williams a Line Mechanic based in Avon, helped explain what happens when a tree hits a wire, also when a downed wire hits a fence, and when the ground/water is electrified. How to safely connect a generator to your home was also explained
