Press release
Darien, New York — The Genesee County Department of Public Works announces a temporary closure
of a portion of Richley Road in the Town of Darien, effective Monday, June 30, 2025. The closure will
occur between Simonds Road and Harper Road to accommodate a bridge replacement over Murder
Creek.
The existing double-barrel corrugated metal pipe arch (CMPA) culvert will be replaced with a new
precast concrete 3-sided rigid frame structure featuring a 35-foot clear span. This upgrade will
significantly enhance the long-term safety and structural integrity of the crossing.
A signed detour will be in place using Simonds Road, Harper Road, and Sumner Road. The section of
Richley Road will remain closed to all through traffic for the duration of the project.
Construction is expected to be completed in October 2025. The Genesee County Department of Public
Works appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation during this important infrastructure
improvement effort.
