On Monday, July 21, 2025, Darren Boynton, a 48-year-old resident of Warsaw, NY, waived indictment and pleaded guilty to seven (7) counts of Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child, a Class “D” Felony, stemming from crimes committed on or about December 5, 2024 through February 28, 2025. Boynton also pleaded guilty to four (4) counts of Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child, a Class “E” Felony, stemming from crimes committed on or about June 17, 2025.
There was no plea offer in this case. The sentencing range includes anything from a conditional discharge, probation, and/or local jail up to 364 days and a maximum sentence up to 2 1/3 – 7 years in the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision for each “D” Felony, and 1 1/3 – 4 years for each “E” Felony. The defendant will also be subject to the Sex Offender Registration Act (SORA), fines, fees, and surcharges.
Sentencing is scheduled for October 30, 2025 at 9:30 before the Honorable Donald G. O’Geen.
Boynton was arrested by the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation. The case was prosecuted by First Assistant District Attorney Chelsie Hamilton. Assistant Public Defender Norman Effman, Esq. represents the Defendant in this matter.
