Press release
On July 23rd, 2025 a Wyoming County resident received a phone call with the caller claiming to
be a United States Customs official. The caller advised the Wyoming County resident they were
being investigated and needed to talk to the County Sheriff, and the caller then transferred the
phone to another individual who claimed to be the Sheriff.
These individuals were attempting to scam the Wyoming County resident into giving them their bank and mortgage information. Luckily, the Wyoming County resident recognized this as a scam and called the Sheriff’s Office to report it.
