The Perry Police Department reports the arrest of Marylou Kotrys, 51, of Geneseo, NY, following a traffic stop for speed in zone on November 16, 2025.
Kotrys was suspected of driving while impaired by drugs and asked to submit to field sobriety testing and performed poorly. Kotrys then went through a drug influence evaluation where it was the opinion of the Drug recognition expert that Kotrys was allegedly under the influence of a CNS Stimulant and Narcotic Analgesic and unable to operate a vehicle safely.
Upon stopping the vehicle, it was found that two children under 16 were in the vehicle at the time of operation with one allegedly not properly restrained in a car seat.
Kotrys was charged with DWAI/drugs, DWAI/by more than one drug, and two felony counts of DWI under Leandra’s Law. Kotrys was also ticketed for speed in zone and not having a child properly restrained.
Due to the felony offenses and Kotrys two previous felony convictions, she was arraigned in Perry Village Court in front of Judge Joshua Wolcott. Judge Wolcott released Kotrys with a later court date to answer the charges.

Absolutely I totally agree. Some little town punk ass cop just doing his diligence. 🤣 I live in Perry and I seen what happened. He took her phone from her and illegally search her. She was stopped for speeding then accused of being under the influence. The news report says. Well why didn’t she get a ticket and be on her way. Everyone is nervous when stopped by police. Yes baby girl get a lawyer. I’m sure they gave her drug test. It’s there opinion that she was under the influence. CNS is a central nervous system medical medicine not a narcotic. So basically she was on prescription meds. She is going to own that town and I hope that cop gets his ass fired. For violating her rights. Some cops thought she was impaired and some cops didn’t WTF. What are they going to say after her innocence is proved, we’re sorry we made a mistake. Perry police harass its own citizens and try to accuse everyone they stop of doing something because I have been stopped by them 3 times and it’s always the same BS. I hope she SUE’S them and wins a huge settlement.
After reading these comments I have to disagree with them. First the medical names of the drugs given are basically pain medicine and CNS is a benzo like valium or Xanax. Blood test will show impairment or not. Police who have opinions on if the driver is impaired usually take 72 hr course on spotting impaired drivers. In NYS drivers who pass blood BAC of 0.07 or 0.05 can still be charged with DWAI or DWI. The most important thing is proper procedure handling the evidence. There are very strict procedure’s like the medical staff must seal and document the evidence before handing off the evidence to police. Then the officers must do the same and the person or accused person must be present to see if this was handled properly. So if your blood sample was not sealed where it can’t be tampered with the case should be thrown out. Police body cameras should be on during this time and everyone present during this testing should be on video. The proper sealing of the evidence being recorded and the Police taking custody of the sealed evidence all on the Axon Police body cams. If not something isn’t right. Contamination or tampering of the sample is very possible. I don’t know what passing blood levels will be considered to be guilty or not. If the woman that this article is about most likely will see these comments ASK YOURSELF did you witness the evidence being recorded and sealed so that it would show if it was tampered with. Did the Police and Medical staff follow procedure handling of the evidence. I’m writing this because I was once in the same situation and because they gave my sample unsealed to the officers my case was dismissed. If anyone else reads this and you are ever stopped by the police you don’t have to tell them anything about your medicine or medical problem. Never tell Cops you are taking anything. It’s a private and personal question that you don’t have to answer. You are protected by the Constitution of the United States. They will ask you questions but don’t give any answers. Use your right to remain silent. If stopped for speeding get a ticket and be on your way. They will ask questions just say I don’t answer questions if they make a different claim or accusation say you stopped me for speeding now your fishing don’t incriminate yourself by answering there questions. Ask for there supervisor and wait until he arrives. Police trick people this way so they can make a arrest. Learn your RIGHTS and know how to protect yourself from Police that abuse there power. Not all Police do this I know from personal experience.
