CORE Learning Center, located at 1 Mill Street, Suite 200, off Evans Street, cut the ribbon on their new Community Resource Room on Wednesday. The Community Resource Room offers free computer access, digital workshops, one-on-one support, telehealth offices, and help with online benefits and services.
“Our goal is to provide technology to those who maybe don’t have access to it, and for them to be confident and use it maybe for the workforce, and to just really understand the digital literacy aspect of it, using the computers,” says Jarod Reed, Community Resource Room Coordinator.
Reed says the brand-new program is being created based on the communities needs.
The Community Resource Room is open Monday -Friday. 9am-4pm
CORE, which stands for Creating Opportunities in Rural Education, has a mission to empower the communities they serve through lifelong learning. They are a nonprofit agency that offers community resources at no cost to the participant.
CORE offers adult programming in GED prep, ESOL and Civics, vocational training and certifications, workforce readiness, and digital literacy/computer classes, one on one tutoring and small group learning, reading, writing and math instruction, English language and workplace communication, and college and career readiness support. CORE offers people the opportunity to learn in a different environment, recognizing that structured classrooms might not be the best option.
CORE assists adult learners, job seekers, parents and families, youth and young adults, community members seeking technology or telehealth access and justice-involved individuals.
