With a block full of protesters again on Main Street, the No Kings Rally seems to attract more and more people who are becoming upset with the current administration and President Donald Trump. Added to the signs this time, war. Some protesters say the list of reasons to protest is too long now for a sign.

“My girlfriend lives up here and we’re sick of everything that’s going on and we’re ready for change says, Patricia Harrington. Every time (these protests) they have been happening, millions of more people have been joining the movement.”
“It’s important to keep doing this as a community, we know that we may not make changes immediately, but being together with other people who feel that humans are humans and love is love and a war is insane. What the administration is doing is horrible and brings us back to being able to be resistant and to continue to resist against this horrific fascist government that is running our country,” says Lisa Harrington.
I’m sick of everything that has been going on, I’m ready for a change, it’s a scary world out there, says Batavia resident, Taylor Peck. It’s not something I want to keep growing up in and I don’t want our future children to grow up in; I just want things to change. I think hopefully, people are seeing the crazy things that are going on and are believing that it’s not okay because it isn’t. More and more people are opening their eyes and just realizing that it’s something worth fighting for.”
The last No Kings Rally was held in the fall on Main Street and was well attended between Jefferson Avenue and Bank Street. There were over 3,000 No Kings events being held across 50 states today.

Several counterprotesters appeared across the street from the No Kings Rally on Saturday supporting ICE . No incidents were reported during the protests. However, one No Kings protester carrying a trombone and megaphone didn’t agree with this reporter not sharing my opinion on the topic at hand with them and became irate using their megaphone in a threatening manner and yelling loudly with their megaphone to the face and in personal space. Thank you to a fellow protester for shielding my personal space during a second attack.
