The 6th Annual Sanfratello Easter Egg Hunt was held in Alexander on Saturday morning. Kids 12 and under in the community were welcomed to the event which has been held on Pike Road every year.
In 2020, the late Sgt. Tom Sanfratello started the Easter Egg Hunt.
“It first started as just a big egg hunt for my little sister but soon grew to all family, then to anyone that knew my dad,” says Ian Sanfratello, Organizer and Sgt. Sanfratello’s son.
“My father loved helping family and friends make memories.”
The event has grown, and the Genesee County Employees Association along with the Genesee County Deputies Association has sponsored the event by helping buy candy and gold egg prizes.
Today, there were 8,129 eggs on the property on Pike Road. Three big Golden Eggs with $20 cash prizes, one big, big Golden Egg with a $100 prize, 32 camouflage eggs, which wins you a fishing lure, 32 plain eggs, where you can win a fidget toy, and 30 small golden eggs that include a chocolate lollypop. Candies are from Oliver’s Candies. Over 100 people were in attendance this year.
The next fundraiser event will be the 2nd Annual Sgt. Sanfratello Memorial Ride on August 15th, which will begin at the Alexander Firehall at 11AM. Bring a small, unwrapped toy or a donation amount of your choice. Registration begins at 9AM.
The event is open to all bikes, cars, and trucks (no trailers).
Toys collected will be given to Genesee County Social Services and Shop With a Cop. Cash proceeds will benefit the Sgt, Thomas Sanfratello Scholarship Fund provided by the GCSO Employee Association.
