Press release
Now in its 12th year of operation, Camp Hard Hat has grown from one hands-on career exploration camp for middle school students in Genesee County to now hosting 7 different Camp Hard Hat camps across the GLOW and Monroe County region.
The purpose of Camp Hard Hat is to introduce students to the skilled trades while helping to build a community project under the guidance and direction of Genesee Valley BOCES Building Trades instructors. Several Camp Hard Hat graduates have gone on to enroll in Career & Technical Education programming and are now in the construction industry – we know that Camp Hard Hat works and directly feeds this high-growth, high-demand industry.
As Camp Hard Hat continues to grow, so do the supply needs. For years, GVBOCES has generously allowed Camp Hard Hat to use their tool trailer – now it is time for Camp Hard Hat to raise the necessary funds to secure our own tool trailer and thus allowing Camp Hard Hat to lead multiple camps at the same time…thereby DOUBLING our impact on local youth.
On Saturday, May 30, the Batavia Rod & Gun Club in East Bethany will be hosting the Sporting Clays Shoot Benefiting Camp Hard Hat. We are seeking individuals and teams to pre-register online (must be a minimum age of 12 years old and all participants MUST adhere to Batavia Rod & Gun Club Safety Rules) and we are also seeking event sponsors. The event flyer and press release are attached to this email. Online registration & payment is available at https://www.camphardhat.org/sporting-clays-shoot-fundraiser. Proceeds from this event will go toward purchasing the tool trailer.
