Chief Michael J. Grover reports the arrest of a Mount Morris man following a DWI investigation by the Perry Police Department, all stemming from a motor vehicle accident.
On May 16, 2026, at approximately 11:23 p.m., the Perry Police Department responded to a motor vehicle accident on Rt. 20A at Silver Lake Road. Following an investigation, 47-year-old Clinton D. Taft was charged with DWI-Common law, Refusal to take breath test, Consumption or possession of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle and Failure to stop at a stop sign.
Taft refused to perform standardized field sobriety tests and was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.
Taft was transported to the Perry Police Department where he then refused to provide a chemical breath test. Taft was processed on the above charges and was then arraigned in the Perry Village Court by Judge Wolcott, where Taft’s driver’s license was suspended.
Taft was released to a sober 3rd party and is to appear in the Perry Town Court on 06/03/2026.
Officers were assisted by the Wyoming County Sheriffs Office and the NYS Police.
