The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred on Batavia Oakfield Townline Road in the Town of Oakfield. The Genesee County Emergency Dispatch Center received a 9-1-1 call reporting a motor vehicle collision at 9:37 PM on July 8, 2026.
Two vehicles were involved in the collision. The first vehicle, a black 2005 Harley Davidson, was being operated by James L. Emery, 52, of Oakfield, NY. Emery was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second vehicle a white 2015 Nissan Versa, was being operated by Mariano D. Cecala, 21, of Chili, NY. A passenger in Cecala’s vehicle was identified as MeKenzie M. Mitchell of Stafford, NY. Cecala and MeKenzie were uninjured in the collision.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation. Investigators will be canvassing the area for video and witnesses. Assisting at the scene was the Oakfield Fire Department, East Pembroke Fire Department and the
Genesee County Coroner’s Office. No further information is available at this time.
