Perry, NY – Chief Michael J. Grover reports the arrest of a Perry resident following a DWI investigation by the Perry Police Department, stemming from traffic violations.
On August 13th, 2026, at approximately 10:38 p.m., the Perry Police stopped James V. Clawson, 44, of Perry, NY, after numerous vehicle and traffic violations on Route 20A. Upon interacting with Clawson, the officer suspected Clawson of allegedly being intoxicated. The officer noticed an alleged open alcoholic beverage in the front console as well as an odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from Clawson. Clawson agreed to field sobriety tests and was arrested for DWI. He did submit to a chemical breath test.
Clawson was charged with DWI-Common law, driving with a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.18% or higher, driving with a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.08% or higher, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, speeding in a zone, passed red signal and moving from a lane unsafely
Clawson was arraigned by Judge Wolcott in the Perry Village Court where Clawson’s driver’s license was suspended. Clawson was released to a sober 3rd party at his home and is to appear in the Perry Town court on 09/09/2026.
